We are aware our activities have an impact on society and the environment. That is why we take our responsibilities in the areas of environmental protection, human rights and safety at work very seriously.

We are committed to being a leader in safety and eliminate injuries from our operations.

We minimise our impact on the environment through the use of modern facilities and continuous investment.

We promote the health and well-being of our employees and the local community around our operations.

Community and human rights

We respect human rights and support the long-term development of local communities.

Community and social engagement

As a Nordenham company, we have been closely connected with our region for more than 115 years. Our commitment to local communities is very close to our hearts. That is why we would like to make it possible again in the near future to support local projects and institutions such as the Nordenhamer Tafel, the children’s and youth farm and sports and cultural clubs.

Safety in the workplace

As a proud member of the Glencore Group, we follow the company’s internal “SafeWork” approach. The SafeWork initiative aims to change attitudes towards safety throughout the organisation. With SafeWork, we want to bring about lasting change and thereby prevent serious injuries and fatalities in the workplace. For more information on SafeWork, please visit global Glencore page (ENG).

Environmental protection

Protecting the environment is very important for Nordenham Metall. Even the basic purpose of our company is sustainable and therefore environmentally friendly: for instance, we recycle used batteries and can therefore recover lead and other important raw materials. This makes Nordenham Metall an important part of the circular economy, without which technical devices such as laptops or smartphones would not even exist.

To fulfil our responsibilities towards our employees and the local community, we carry out projects to improve environmental protection on an ongoing basis. By 2023, an additional EUR 13.5 million will be invested in environmental projects. For example, numerous measures to minimise emissions will be implemented.

You can find an overview of the current projects here.

Quality management

We are committed to meeting our customer’s quality requirements while being fully compliant with safety and environmental regulations. As we are particularly committed to our local and regional roots, we also place great emphasis on training young people (see also our job opportunities on the Group's Careers page).

In addition, our measures are always aimed at ensuring the health and safety of employees and the local community around our industrial site, as well as protecting the environment.

Our company is ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 50001:2011 certified and a certified special waste company (EFB).
